As I’ve watched my son Jarred grow into manhood, it has weighed
heavy on my heart how much confusion and outright misinformation he
must sift through to find his way as a Christian man in today’s
society.
A couple of years ago, God brought two other men with the same concerns
in to my life. As we began to discuss our thoughts and share our prayers,
we realized that we all had the same burden on our hearts – the
spiritual condition of men.
Men, we’ve allowed ourselves to be relegated to the background;
to be teased, laughed at and downright attacked. The world as a whole
and our nation in particular has begun to dismiss the traditional role
of a man. Once heralded as the cornerstone of the family; the protector,
the warrior, the leader, now it seems that society has decided that
our voice is one to be drowned out or ignored.
We must take responsibility for this circumstance. It is through our
laziness and neglect of God’s basic tenets that we find ourselves
at this place. By delegating away our God-ordained responsibilities
we have given satan opportunity to rain down destruction on our families,
churches and our nation. It is time for us (men) to rise up, by the
power of God, and be what He has called us to be.
As Larry, Michael and I prayed and sought God’s guidance; He
revealed to us the story of Benaiah, through Mark Batterson’s
book, “In a Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day”. As
our men’s prayer group worked our way through Pastor Batterson’s
book and the corresponding scriptures, we realized that God was preparing
us to take our shared burden and his definitive answer to the men of
our church and beyond. Thus, the Benaiah Men’s Conference was
born.
We invite you to join us on October 7th and 8th to learn what the
scriptures say about our rights and responsibilities as men. We encourage
you to read “In a Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day” and
dig into the scriptures that it references. We ask that you pray for
the leadership of this conference. Most of all, we offer our prayers
for you as you seek what it means to be a Lion Chaser...and a man after
God’s own heart.
In His Service,
Ronnie Prince
